Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark field hockey team (5-5, 1-2 NEWMAC) recorded their second straight win with a 2-0 victory over Mount Holyoke (3-6, 0-3 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- Junior Greer McCarty fired Clark's first shot of the game on target in the fourth minute that was saved by Rachel Katzenberg.
- The Cougars offense nearly broke the tie twice at the end of the first quarter with shots on target with shots from senior Abbe Cravinho and McCarty, but Katzenberg came away with two more saves to end the quarter.
- Clark took the lead early in the second quarter when senior Abbe Cravinho send a ball along the left side of the circle that found the stick of graduate student Kimberlie Asseng as the Cougars took a 1-0 lead.
- The Cougars added to the lead before the half as first-year Ciaran Cubbage found a loose ball in the circle and beat the goalie to give Clark a 2-0 at the break.
- First-year Loren Root kept the game tied at 2-0 with a save on a shot from Mollee Malbouef and the Cougars nearly added a third goal at the end of the third when Cravinho fired a shot that was saved and Cubbage collected the rebound and had her shot saved.
- Phoebe Aaronson and Laurissa Montigny fired a shot on goal to open the fourth quarter, but Root saved the shots.
- The Lyons earned a pair of penalty strokes in the fourth quarter and Root came away with two saves on the two shots and recorded a total of nine saves in the fourth to give Clark a 2-0 win.
