Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (7-4-1, 3-1-1 NEWMAC) recorded their fifth win in their past six contests with a 2-0 win over Mount Holyoke (1-11-0, 0-5-0 NEWMAC) on Wednesday night from Granger Field.
The shutout was Clark's sixth of the season.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Jamie Joseph gave Clark an early 1-0 lead when she stole the ball from a Mount Holyoke back and was able to beat Clarissa Govea to the left and put the ball into the back of the net.
- Clark's offense then created four corner kick opportunities with the fourth corner kick nearly giving the Cougars a 2-0 lead as Joseph headed the senior Emma Tziachris, but Govea saved the Joseph header in the 40th minute.
- Joseph beat Govea in the 42nd minute, but Echo Haverkamp came sliding in to make the defense save as Clark held a 1-0 lead at the half.
- Tziachris opened the second half with a shot on goal that was saved and Joseph put a header just high as the Cougars offense nearly pushed the lead to two goals.
- Clark took a 2-0 lead in the 61st minute when Joseph dribbled past the Lyons defense and passed the ball across the box and found the foot of first-year Gabriella Herivaux and Herivaux beat the keeper.
- Junior Anika Floeck put a shot on target in the 72nd minute that was saved and sophomore Andrea Mortimer hit the crossbar in the 83rd minute as the Cougars came away with a 2-0 win.
