Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (7-4-2, 3-1-2 NEWMAC) battled with Smith (4-6-3, 1-3-2 NEWMAC) for 90 minutes and came away with a 0-0 draw against the Pioneers on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.
The defensive shutout was the team's seventh shutout of the season and fifth in their past seven matches.
How it Happened
- Senior Emma Tziachris created Clark's first scoring chance of the game in the 18th minute, but had her shot attempt saved by Noemi Howland.
- Graduate student Jamie Joseph headed a shot in the 34th minute that got stopped by Howland, which went down as the second shot on target of the match in a defensive-oriented contest.
- Sophomore Isabel Echerverry attempted Clark's final shot of the half in the 37th minute that was saved by Howland as the teams entered the half tied at 0-0.
- Clark's offense created a pair of chances early in the second half as Joseph and senior Jamie Stern each put shots on target that were stopped by Howland.
- In the 65th minute, Joseph broke down the right sideline and created a chance that was again saved by the Pioneers and sophomore Andrea Mortimer serviced in a corner in the 76th minute that Joseph headed just high of the mark.
- First-year Jayme Brown and junior Emily Rooney each nearly recorded game-winners within the final eight minutes and despite earning four corner kicks, the Cougars weren't able to find the back of the net as the team battled to a 0-0 draw.
