WATERFORD, Conn. – Sophomore Ruby Krasnow broke the school record in the 6k event and posted a first-place finish at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday from Harkness Park.
Coach Mauro's Thoughts
"Ruby ran an amazing race, essentially on her own, proving she can handle leading or being a part of a pack. No one was safe the last 200m Lily outkicked everyone around her to pass about 10-15 runners in the last 200m. Her kick landed her a knee 6K PR. Wynne also ran a PR and kicked big time. Three of our first years held down the middle of the pack Abby, Emmy, and Siobhan! Emmy outkicked the runner in front of her to move Clark up! Sophia went out hard but adjusted well to land herself a new PR! Fiona ran a season-best! And Chloe powered through for a strong performance."
How it Happened
- Krasnow broke the program record with a time of 22:03.80, which was also a PR, and topped Kate Cochran of New Paltz by over 33 seconds.
- Kransow's time puts her in line to be able to compete at nationals.
- Fellow sophomore Lily Carey placed ninth overall and set a PR with a mark of 24:17.0.
- First-year Abigail Gahagan placed third on the team and 83rd overall with a time of 28:19.50.
