Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark field hockey team (6-8, 1-5 NEWMAC) welcomed Springfield (5-8, 2-3 NEWMAC) to Granger Field on Saturday and fell 2-0 to the Pride in Clark's Breast Cancer Awareness Game.
How it Happened
- The Pride took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute off a penalty corner as Lily Depew found Claire Munkasci for a goal.
- First-year Ciaran Cubbage nearly tied the game in the 11th minute, but had her shot saved by Remy Niland inside the circle as Springfield held a 1-0 edge after one quarter of play.
- Senior Abbe Cravinho put a shot on goal in the 16th minute that was stopped by Niland and graduate student Erin Hynes also challenged Springfield's netminder, but Niland registered another save as the Clark offense controlled play.
- In the third quarter, the Cougars earned a penalty corner as time expired and junior Rachel Romain took a shot off a pass from graduate student Kimberlie Asseng that was saved as the score remained 1-0.
- McCarty opened the fourth quarter with a shot that was stopped and Hynes earned a penalty stroke in the 49th minute, but had her shot attempt saved down the middle.
- The Cougars offense created three dangerous chances in the 55th minute as McCarty, Hynes, and Romain each had their shots stopped by Niland.
- The Pride added another goal from Emma Robinson as Springfield came away with a 2-0 win.
