Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (8-4-2, 4-1-2 NEWMAC) traveled to Emerson (8-3-3, 5-1-1 NEWMAC) and came away with a 2-0 win over the Lions as senior Siobhan Lounsbury netted both goals for the Cougars on Wednesday night from Rotch Field.
The defensive shutout was the team's eighth shutout of the season and the sixth in their past eight matches.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Anabella White recorded three saves over the first six minutes of play to keep the game tied 0-0.
- Senior Emma Tziachris nearly gave Clark the lead in the 13th minute with a shot, but Amara Schaub came away with a save.
- White recorded two more saves on shots from Brittney Righetti and Caitlin Johnston in the 16th and 17th minutes as both offenses controlled play.
- Senior Jamie Stern fired a shot on goal in the 25th minute that was stopped by Schaub and right before the half junior Anika Floeck put a shot on target that was saved as the game was tied 0-0 at the half.
- The Lions offense put two more shots on goal to open the second half, but White came up with two more saves and Clark's offense created two corner kick opportunities.
- Clark broke the tie in the 66th minute when Lounsbury beat the Emerson defense and found the back of the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage.
- Sophomore Isabella Ramirez nearly extended the lead in the 74th minute, but Schaub saved the shot and the Cougars pushed the advantage to 2-0 off a shot from Lounsbury in the 78th minute.
- White recorded her ninth save of the game on the Lions last shot attempt in the 82nd minute as the Cougars came away with a 2-0 win.
