Box Score NORTON, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (9-4-2, 5-1-2 NEWMAC) extended their winning streak to two games and moved into third place in the NEWMAC standings with a 1-0 win over Wheaton (7-8-1, 4-5-0 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon from Mirrione Stadium.
The defensive shutout was the team's ninth shutout of the season and the seventh in their past nine matches.
How it Happened
- Senior Emma Tziachris nearly gave Clark a lead in the fourth minute, but had her shot saved but had her shot saved by Patricia Bandrup.
- First-year Gabriella Herivaux did put Clark on the board in the 10th minute as Herivaux battled in front of the net, found the ball, and fired it into the back of the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
- Graduate student Jamie Joseph and senior Jamie Stern nearly extended the Clark lead with shots that were saved and Herivaux hit the crossbar as the Cougars offense continued to control play.
- Senior Siobhan Lounsbury and Joseph put shots on target in the 27th and 29th minutes that were saved and sophomore Anabella White recorded her first save of the match off a shot from Kate Wickenheisser.
- Sophomore Cassandra Trevino and Stern each had shots saved before the half as Clark led 1-0.
- Herivaux and Tziachris each picked up the offense where it was in the first half as they put shots on target that was saved by Bandrup
- White posted a pair of saves in the 67th minute on a shot from Wickenheisser and in the 74th minute off another Wickenheisser shot attempt.
- Over the final 16 minutes of action, the Clark defense held Wheaton without a shot on goal as junior Emily Rooney, Trevino, and Joseph each put shots on target as the Cougars won 1-0.
