Box Score WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (11-15, 3-6 NEWMAC) battled with Wellesley (8-15, 1-8 NEWMAC) for five sets, but fell 3-2 to the Blue on Tuesday night from the Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.
Clark fell 25-18 in the first set, won the second set 25-22, won the third set 25-17, dropped the fourth set 25-18, and lost 15-12 in the final set.
How it Happened
- Clark took an 8-6 lead in the first set led by two kills from junior Sheyenne Williams and a service ace from sophomore Yvanna Torres.
- The Cougars extended the advantage to 15-14 in the first as junior Victoria Pastor and senior Cameron Gill each added kills and fellow senior Claudia Rivera recorded a service ace.
- The Blue ended the set on an 11-3 run and took the set 25-18 despite two more kills from Pastor.
- Both teams changed the lead throughout the beginning of the second set as the match was 8-8 and later 12-12 with a service ace from Pastor.
- Clark took a 16-15 lead with a kill from Rivera and got two kills from junior Camille Flurry and Pastor down the stretch as the scarlet and white ended the second set on a 9-7 run and won 25-22.
- The Cougars jumped out to a 7-3 advantage in the third set sparked by Gill and Rivera kills and later extended the lead to 14-9 as Pastor recorded a kill.
- Clark then went on an 8-4 run as Rivera and junior Sofia Scherrer del Llano each added two more kills and the Cougars took the third set 25-17 as Flurry ended the set with a service ace.
- The Blue took a 13-6 lead early in the fourth set despite two more Scherrer del Llano kills and a later Scherrer del Llano kill got Clark to within six at 19-13, but Wellesley pulled away with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
- In the pivotal fifth set, Clark led 7-4 sparked by a kill and a service ace from Gill and pushed the lead to 9-5 with a Scherrer del Llano kill.
- After leading 11-7 on another Gill kill, the Blue went on a 7-0 run that was ended by a Wellesley attack error, but the Blue scored the final point to win 15-12.

- Clark recorded 48 kills, dished out 45 assists, and registered 55 digs.
- Rivera led the team with 11 kills.
