SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Clark field hockey team (6-11) closed out their 2022 season with a 5-0 loss to WNE (9-5) on Tuesday night from Golden Bear Stadium.

How it Happened

• Junior Rachael Romain recorded the first save of the game as she registered a defensive save on a shot attempt from Grace Miguel in the 14th minute and senior Abbe Cravinho nearly gave Clark a lead in the final seconds of the first, but the Golden Bears got a defensive save as the game remained tied.
• After first-year Loren Root posted her first save of the game in the 16th minute before WNE took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Abby Burns.
• First-year Ciaran Cubbage nearly tied the game in the 22nd minute, but her shot was saved and Root later recorded two more saves before the Golden Bears added to their lead right before the half to lead 2-0.
• Root recorded six saves in the third quarter and got a shot attempt on target from graduate student Kimberlie Asseng as the Golden Bears took a 5-0 advantage into the fourth quarter.
• First-year Fionnuala Gormley, junior Greer McCarty, and senior Maggie Herlihy each put shots on goal in the fourth quarter, but all were saved as WNE got the win.
