Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (10-5-2, 6-2-2 NEWMAC) battled with No. 25 Babson (13-3-1, 7-2-1 NEWMAC) on Saturday for 90 minutes, but were edged 2-0 on senior day from Granger Field.
Prior to the game, graduate students Mia Advocate and Jamie Joseph, and seniors Siobhan Lounsbury, Jamie Stern, and Emma Tziachris were recognized for their contributions to Clark women's soccer.
Clark finished the regular season fourth in the standings and will host Springfield in the NEWMAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Anabella White opened the game with a critical save off a corner kick that was serviced in and found the head of Claire Middlebrook, but White came out and saved the ball in the second minute.
- Both defenses controlled the pace of play for the next 30 minutes of action as neither team put a shot on target before the Beavers found the back of the net as Morgan Fedosiewich sent a ball up the pitch that found the foot of Caitlin Trott and Elisa Diletizia scored in the 35th minute.
- After White recorded another save in the 36th minute, but Babson added another goal before the half as Diletizia scored her second goal of the game in the 42nd minute off a pass from Laura Lukowicz as the Beavers led 2-0 at the half.
- Lounsbury created a dangerous chance early in the second half, but Fedosiewich came away with a save on the shot.
- White posted three more saves in the second half and Clark's defense didn't concede a goal in the second half, but neither did Babson and the Beavers came away with a 2-0 win.
