Box Score WELLESLEY, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (6-4, 2-1 NEWMAC) traveled to Wellesley (5-5, 0-4 NEWMAC) on Wednesday afternoon and rallied to win 2-1 over the Blue from the Wellesley Soccer Field.
How it Happened
- Junior Emily Rooney nearly gave Clark a one-goal lead early in the match with a shot that hit the crossbar in the fifth minute of play.
- Rooney again was able to put a shot on target in the 12th minute, but Kendall Lincoln recorded the save for the Blue.
- Sophomore Cassandra Trevino serviced in a corner in the 22nd minute that found the head of graduate student Jamie Joseph and Joseph's header went just wide of the goal.
- Senior Jamie Stern fired the final shot on target of the half that was again saved as the game remained tied 0-0 at the break.
- Wellesley took an early 1-0 lead to open the second half as Danika Heaney floated a shot just over the head of sophomore Anabella White in the 47th minute.
- Clark answered Wellesley's goal in the 63rd minute when graduate student Mia Advocate sent a ball in the box to first-year Gabriella Herivaux and Herivaux dribbled around the defense and put the shot into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
- White came up with a save on a shot from Heaney in the 68th minute and another save on a Heaney shot in the 76th minute that led to a corner, but Clark was able to clear the ball.
- The Cougars took a 2-1 advantage in the 81st minute as Herivaux found a ball that was bouncing around in the box and beat the goalie to the left side of the goal.
- Herivaux nearly added her third goal of the match in the 85th minute as she ran up the middle of the pitch, but Lincoln came up to make a play on the ball and saved it.
