Volleyball Records 3-0 Win Over Worcester State on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (10-9) hosted their senior day game against Worcester State (3-15) and came away with a 3-0 win on Thursday night from the Kneller Gymnasium.

Prior to the match, seniors Claire Baker, Cameron Gill, Ava Spach, and Claudia Rivera were recognized prior to the game for their contributions to Clark women's volleyball.

Clark won the first set 25-19, the second set 25-8, and the third set 25-21.

How it Happened

  • Rivera opened the game with four kills and a kill from junior Sheyenne Williams gave Clark an 8-6 lead in the first set.
  • After the first set was tied at 12-12, sophomore Yvanna Torres fired a service ace and a kill from junior Victoria Pastor pushed the Cougars advantage to 16-13.
  • Clark then went on a 9-6 run to end the set as Rivera recorded four more kills and Gill and Spach each added a kill of their own as the Cougars won the set 25-19.
  • In the second set, Clark got out to a 10-4 lead sparked by three kills from junior Camille Flurry and then went on a 9-0 run as five different Cougars recorded kills with Pastor leading the way with two as Clark led 20-5.
  • Rivera, Williams, Spach, and Flurry scored four of Clark's final five points of the set as the Cougars won the set 25-8.
  • Clark held a 10-8 lead to open the final set led by three kills from Rivera and a kill and assist from Torres.
  • The Cougars pushed the lead to six at 16-10 with the scarlet and white getting kills from junior Sofia Scherrer del Llano and Williams.
  • Rivera brought the set home with a service ace and two kills and a kill from Torres ended the match as Clark came away with a 25-21 win.

Inside the Stats

  • Clark recorded 46 kills, dished out 45 assists, and registered 41 digs.
  • Rivera led the team with 19 kills.
  • Flurry and Williams each recorded five kills.
  • Torres dished out 33 assists and sophomore Emily Newman added seven helpers.
  • Oka led the squad in digs with 15.

Clark will return to action on Tuesday with a NEWMAC road match at MIT beginning at 6:00 p.m.
