Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (1-0) opened the 2022-23 campaign and Bridgette Reyes era opened with a 62-57 win over Worcester State (0-1) on Friday night from Harrington Auditorium in the Worcester City Tournament.
Clark will play WPI in the Championship game tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. from Harrington Auditorium.
How it Happened
- Clark got out to an early 7-4 lead in the first quarter sparked by a three-pointer from junior Jacqueline Faulise, free throws from graduate student Camryn Richey, and a layup from junior Alaina Schatzabel.
- After Worcester State took an 8-7 advantage, Clark ended the quarter on a 12-7 run led by four points from Schatzabel and four other players recorded two points with junior Mariah Harris hit a pair of free throws as the Cougars led 19-14 at the end of the first quarter.
- Faulise scored Clark's first four points of the second quarter as the Cougars held a 23-19 advantage before Harris and Faulise added baskets at the end of the frame in a defensive oriented quarter that Clark led 27-26.
- Worcester State took the lead early in the third quarter as they held a 32-31 lead despite a pair of baskets from Schatzabel and an and-one layup later in the quarter to make it a 39-34 ball game.
- Clark tied the game at 39-39 on a Schatzabel free throw and took the lead at 41-39 when senior Julianne Liebow recorded a steal and made a layup with 2:10 to go in the quarter.
- The Lancers held a 44-43 lead entering the fourth quarter before the Cougars opened the fourth on a 7-0 run led by five points from Faulise to take a 50-44 advantage.
- Harris made a layup with 6:31 to go to make it a 52-47 game, but the Lancers went on a 8-0 run of their own to take a 55-52 edge.
- With 2:22 to go, down by three, Faulise made a layup after grabbing an offensive rebound and a Liebow jumper gave the Cougars the lead back with 1:46 to play at 56-55.
- Richey pushed the lead to 58-55 with a floater with 0:53 remaining and after a Worcester State made layup, Faulise put the game away with a three-pointer to put Clark up two possessions at 61-57 as Clark came away with the first win of the Reyes era.

- Faulise netted a career-high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
- Schatzabel scored 16 points on 7-11 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds.
