Box Score LEWISTON, Me. – The Clark men's basketball team (2-0) played its third game in five days when with a road contest at Bates (0-1) and came away with a 63-60 thrilling victory on Saturday afternoon from Alumni Gym.
How it Happened
- Clark took an early 5-2 lead sparked by a three-pointer from first-year Reid Neumann and a layup from sophomore Isaiah Taylor.
- After Bates took the lead at 13-8, junior Bruce Saintilus and Taylor each made layups to get within four at 16-12 with 9:24 to go in the first half.
- A Taylor three-pointer with 8:07 remaining in the first half brought Clark within two at 19-17 and a later Taylor jumper tied the game at 21-21.
- Junior Mikey O'Brien, Saintilus, and sophomore Kekoa McArdle each scored before the half and the McArdle layup with three seconds to go in the first half as the Cougars led 27-25.
- Bates opened the second half on an 8-0 run, before Neumann ended the run with a three-pointer in a 33-30 game with 18:06 remaining.
- Another Neumann three-pointer tied the game at 35-35, but the Bobcats went on a 8-3 run despite three more points with 12:14 to go.
- After Bates held a 46-38 lead, Taylor scored the contest's next five points and a layup with 10:02 made it a 48-45 ball game.
- Saintilus earned a pair of free throws with 8:39 remaining in the half to give Clark the lead, but again the Bobcats went on a run to extend the advantage to 55-49.
- Neumann and Taylor each made three-pointers and a made layup by O'Brien made it a 60-57 contest with 4:15 to go.
- Taylor earned a pair of free throws and made them with 2:09 remaining and a Saintilus free throw with 1:02 remaining made it a 60-60 game.
- Taylor made three free throws down the stretch and Clark held the Bobcats scoreless over the final 1:02 of the game as Clark won 63-60.
