Schatzabel Nets Career-High 33 Points in Convincing 91-51 Win Over Fitchburg State

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (2-1) welcomed Fitchburg State (1-2) to the Kneller for their first home game of the season and the first of head coach Bridgette Reyes' Clark career and came away with a convincing 91-51 win on Wednesday night.

How it Happened

  • Clark scored 10 of the contest's first 11 points sparked by four points from both junior Alaina Schatzabel and junior Jacqueline Faulise as well as a layup from senior Sarah Zambrano as Clark led 10-1 with 5:49 to go in the first quarter.
  • With the Falcons pulling within eight at 14-6, Faulise and Schatzabel each added four points down the stretch of the first quarter and junior Mariah Harris scored three points as the Cougars held a 25-10 lead after the first period.
  • Schatazabel continued her quick start with two more layups to take a 19-point edge, but the Falcons scored the next five points to pull back within 14 points at 29-15.
  • Senior Jalin Waters ended the Fitchburg State run with a pair of free throws and Fitchburg went on another run with an 8-2 run, but Schatzabel and sophomore Megan Swedberg layups pushed the lead back up to 14 at 37-23 with 3:59 remaining in the second quarter.
  • Senior Julianne Liebow netted the Cougars final points of the half with a pair of free throws as Clark held a 39-30 lead at the half.
  • Schatzabel scored Clark's first six points of the third quarter as the Cougars pushed the lead to 45-34 and Clark then went on a 7-0 fun led by a Faulise three-pointer, a graduate student Cam Richey jumper, and a Schatzabel layup as Clark led 52-34 with 5:32 left in the third quarter.
  • The scarlet and white ended the third quarter on a 12-9 run sparked by five points from Schatzabel and four from Faulise as Clark took a 64-43 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Cougars offense erupted for 27 points led by six points from both Harris and graduate student Julia Beebe and five points from Zambrano and Faulise as Clark won 91-61.

  • Clark grabbed 57 rebounds, dished out 25 assists, and forced 30 turnovers.
  • Schatzabel netted a career-high 33 points and pulled down 23 rebounds.
  • Faulise added 20 points on 7-13 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds.

  • Harris added 12 points and dished out four assists.
