Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (5-0) extended their winning streak to five games as they topped Anna Maria (1-4) 87-65 on Tuesday night from the Kneller Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- Clark opened the game on a 10-2 run sparked by three points from sophomore Kekoa McArdle, a made triple from first-year Reid Neumann, and baskets from sophomore Isaiah Taylor and junior Bruce Saintilus.
- Sophomore Ian Calabrese then connected on a pair of three-pointers to extend the lead to 16-2 with 13:27 to go and a Saintilus layup pushed the advantage to 18-6.
- Saintilus then scored seven of the contest's next 11 points with a made jumper, a made layup, and a three-pointer as Clark took a 27-8 lead with 7:52 to go in the first half.
- Taylor made a pair of three-pointers and made a layup with 4:51 remaining on a fast break and Neumann connected on another triple as Clark led 38-16.
- Over the final 4:48 of the first half, the Cougars outscored 11-10 Anna Maria as Neumann paced the team with three more three-pointers as Clark took a 49-26 lead into the half.
- Anna Maria started the second half on a 9-3 run with the Cougar bucket coming from junior Mikey O'Brien and another O'Brien bucket pushed Clark's lead to 54-35 with 16:19 remaining.
- After the Amcats went on a 10-6 run in the middle of the second half, Taylor converted on an and-one layup to extend the advantage to 62-45.
- Saintilus scored five of Clark's next seven points which was capped off by a made free throw as the Cougars held a 69-55 lead with 7:35 to go.
- After Anna Maria got within 10, O'Brien connected on a three-pointer with 5:34 remaining to help propel an 8-0 run that was capped off by a McArdle and-one layup off a feed from junior Jordan Richard as Clark held an 80-62 edge.
- O'Brien, Taylor, and graduate student Joel Arteaga scored Clark's final seven points down the stretch as the Cougars recorded an 87-65 victory.
