No. 4 Women's Soccer Edged 1-0 by No. 3 Emerson in NEWMAC Championship Game

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. – No. 4 Clark women's soccer (12-6-2) traveled to No. 3 Emerson (12-3-5) on Saturday afternoon for the NEWMAC Championship and battled for 90 minutes, but fell just short as Emerson came away with a 1-0 win from Rotch Field.

The appearance in the NEWMAC Championship was the first in program history and the Cougars will wait for Monday's DIII Women's Soccer Selection Show to see if they will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Smith's Thoughts

"This team achieved things that no one thought we could. We have always believed that we belong, and today we proved that we do. It wasn't the result we wanted but we fought with everything we had. I'm proud of them, and I'm beyond proud to be a part of this program."

"The CUWS family is a special one. The love and support that was poured into today from our alum, families, friends, students, and administrators speaks volumes about who we are. We are a program that everyone can believe in."

"I'm heartbroken for Jamie and Mia. They pushed themselves beyond their limits and sacrificed so much. I wanted this for them and I know they wanted it for us. We look forward to a chance to honor their legacy next fall."
