Men's Basketball Records Convincing 101-51 Win Over Lesley in Season Opener

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (1-0) opened their 2022-23 campaign with a convincing 101-51 win over Lesley (0-1) on Tuesday night from Medford High School.

How it Happened

  • Clark took an early 12-4 lead sparked by eight points from sophomore Isaiah Taylor and four points from junior Bruce Saintilus.
  • The Cougars then pushed the advantage to 19-4 off a 7-0 run led by a three-pointer from sophomore Ian Calabrese and jumpers from Saintilus and sophomore Donovan Price.
  • Another Taylor three-pointer and jumper from first-year Nate Edwards-Roseney pushed the edge to 28-14 with 12:21 to go in the first half.
  • Junior Jordan Richard made his first three-pointer of the season with 10:09 remaining in the first half to take a 35-17 lead and another Calabrese jumper kept the advantage at 18 with 6:53 to go in the half.
  • Clark ended the half on a 16-4 run sparked by six more points from Taylor and a Saintilus three-pointer as the Cougars led 53-21 at the half.
  • First-year Reid Neumann opened the second half with a pair of three-pointers and a jumper from junior Mikey O'Brien extended the lead to 64-29 with 14:01 to go in the game.
  • Price scored Clark's next six points and a three-pointer from graduate student Joel Arteaga pushed the advantage to 77-33.
  • Neumann and Arteaga each added five more points as Clark went on a 16-5 run to extend the lead to 93-38 with 5:46 to go.
  • Calabrese, first-year Aedan Derrick, and first-year Emmett Hamilton each scored down the stretch as Clark came away with a 101-51 victory.

Inside the Box Score

  • Taylor led the team with 17 points on 5-8 shooting.
  • Saintilus added 16 points as he went 5-7 from the floor.
  • Calabrese and Neumann were also in double-digits with 13 and 11 points respectively.

What's Next

Clark will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to DI Merrimack in an exhibition game beginning at 7:00 p.m. from Hammel Court.
