Men's Basketball Cruises to 92-59 Win Against John Jay on Saturday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (8-1) played their final game before the holiday break and came away with a convincing 92-59 victory over John Jay (1-9) on Saturday afternoon from the Kneller Gymnasium.

How it Happened

  • Clark jumped out to an early 13-3 lead with 15:40 remaining in the first half as junior Mikey O'Brien scored seven with a made three-pointer and a pair of layups and fellow junior Bruce Saitnilus added the other six points.
  • Sophomore Kekoa McArdle then scored four of the Cougars next six points, including a made layup off a feed from junior Jordan Richard and a three-pointer from first-year Reid Neumann gave the Cougars a 22-8 advantage.
  • Graduate student Joel Arteaga and sophomore Isaiah Taylor each hit three-pointers over a two-minute stretch and a made layup by Saintilus pushed the lead to 30-14 with 7:22 remaining in the first half.
  • After the Bloodhounds scored the next nine points of the game, Taylor connected on a triple to end the run and helped spark a 7-0 run that was capped off with a Saintilus layup to give Clark a 37-21 lead.
  • Neumann and Saintilus scored the final four points of the half for the scarlet and white as Clark led 41-26 at the break.
  • Saintilus hit a pair of three-pointers right out of the half, including a converted four-point play and a made three from O'Brien gave the Cougars a 51-32 lead.
  • Richard then hit a pair of three-pointers and made a layup off a feed from O'Brien to spark a 7-2 run and an and-one layup from O'Brien extended the advantage to 62-37 with 14:42 remaining.
  • Neumann and Taylor each hit a three-pointer over the next two minutes and a made layup from McArdle kept the lead at 25 and another Richard three with 8:11 to go gave Clark a 76-50 edge.
  • Richard's fourth three-pointer of the afternoon made it a 29 point game with 6:13 to go and down the stretch, Clark got three points from senior Charlie Trey-Masters and six points from first-year Nate Edwards-Roseney as the Cougars came away with a 92-59 win.

  • The Cougars grabbed 48 rebounds, dished out 25 assists, and forced 14 turnovers.
  • Saintilus netted a team-leading 23 points and dished out four assists.
