Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (7-1) battled for 45 minutes as they took Tufts (7-2) to overtime, but were edged 97-90 by the Jumbos in overtime on Wednesday night from the Kneller Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- Tufts jumped out to an early 11-6 lead despite made three-pointers from junior Bruce Saintilus and first-year Reid Neumann before a triple from sophomore Isaiah Taylor made it an 11-9 game with 15:38 remaining in the first half.
- Sophomore Ian Calabrese then scored five of Clark's next seven points with a made three-pointer and a layup as the Cougars took a five-point lead and another Calabrese triple extended the edge to 21-17 with 10:27 to go.
- Sophomore Kekoa McArdle grabbed an offensive rebound and made the layup to go up five before the Jumbos went on a 10-0 run, but Calabrese made a layup and Taylor connected on a triple to tie the game at 30-30.
- Calabrese connected on a three-pointer and Saintilus buried a jumper before the half as Tufts took a 40-37 lead into the locker room.
- After Tufts extended their edge to 46-39, Clark scored six unanswered as Taylor netted four points and Saintilus made a pair of free throws with 15:54 remaining to make it a 46-45 game.
- Neumann connected on a layup off a feed from junior Mikey O'Brien with 12:25 to go to give Clark a 53-52 edge and a layup from first-year Aeden Derrick tied the game at 55-55.
- After the Jumbos went on a 9-2 run, Clark responded with seven unanswered points as Neumann hit three free throws, Saintilus made a pair of foul shots, and O'Brien made a layup to tie the game at 64-64 with 7:41 to go.
- Another Neumann three-pointer gave Clark a 67-66 lead, but Tufts scored six unanswered points before an O'Brien layup and three made free throws from Taylor tied the game at 72-72 with 4:01 remaining.
- After Tufts held an 80-74 lead with 0:49 to go, Taylor hit a pair of free throws and an and-one made three-pointer brought Clark to within one at 81-80 with 0:37 remaining.
- Clark's defense recorded a stop on a Tufts jumper with 0:11 to go and Taylor drew a foul with 0:04 remaining and made a foul shot as the Cougars went into overtime time tied at 81-81.
- Taylor hit a jumper on Clark's first possession of overtime to take a two-point lead before the Jumbos scored five straight points and a Taylor jumper with 2:38 left in overtime to make it an 86-85 game.
- After a Tufts three-pointer, McArdle made a layup off a feed from Taylor and after three more points from Tufts, Taylor hit another three-pointer with 0:22 to go to make it a 92-90 game.
- The Jumbos scored the final five points of the game and came away with a 97-90 victory.
