Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (16-5, 5-5 NEWMAC) traveled into Boston to face Emerson (13-6, 6-4 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon, but fell 83-65 from the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium.
First-year Isaiah Taylor broke the all-time single season record for steals today as he now has 70 steals this season after recoring three steals in today's game. The previous single season record was held by Joel Murray (1991-92) with 69 steals in a year.
How it Happened
- Clark took an early 11-10 lead sparked by four points from graduate student Tyler Davern, a three-pointer from senior Zackary Mittelstadt, and baskets from sophomore Mikey O'Brien and Taylor before Emerson scored 14 unanswered points.
- Graduate student Biko Gayman ended the run with a layup and hit a three to get within 12 at 31-19 with 5:48 left in the first half before the Lions again went on a run that was ended by an O'Brien three-pointer and a layup from O'Brien was the final bucket of the half as Emerson took a 42-26 lead into the half.
- Senior Gralen Vereen and Davern got Clark within 15 before Emerson pushed its lead up to 19 while a Davern triple made it a 54-38 game with 14:59 left.
- Davern hit another three and Taylor netted five points as Clark went on an 8-0 run to pull within 13 and the teams traded baskets over the next three minutes as a layup from sophomore Kolby Randolph made a layup to make it a 68-56 with 8:22 to go.
- A pair of Vereen free throws got the Cougars as close as 10 from the lead, but the Lions pulled away from Clark to win 83-65.
