Box Score NORTON, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (17-5, 6-5 NEWMAC) recorded a convincing 82-61 victory against Wheaton (7-15 2-9 NEWMAC) on Wednesday night from Emerson Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- Clark took an early 15-10 lead sparked by seven points from first-year Isaiah Taylor, five points from sophomore Mikey O'Brien, and a three-pointer from first-year Kyle Jackson with 11:59 left in the first half.
- Davern scored four of Clark's next eight points and a three from senior Zackary Mittelstadt pushed the lead to six at 24-18 and a Taylor jumper extended the lead to 26-18 with 4:32 remaining in the first half.
- Mittelstadt hit another triple before the half as Clark took a 31-27 lead into the half.
- Davern scored six of the team's first eight points to open the second half with the other layup coming from graduate student Biko Gayman made a layup as well to go up 39-32.
- Wheaton got back within six before Clark went on a 12-0 run led by six points from Jackson and capped off by a sophomore Kolby Randolph layup and a Davern three pushed the lead to 57-37 with 10:11 left in the second half.
- After Wheaton got as close as 11 with 6:43 remaining, before a Mittelstadt and Taylor three-pointer pushed the lead to 17 at 69-52 with 4:59 to go.
- Taylor and Davern each added five more points down the stretch as the scarlet and white came away with an 82-61 win over Wheaton.
