Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Clark University baseball team (3-1) recorded its third consecutive win when they topped Clarks Summit (0-6) by a 15-3 margin on Thursday afternoon from Polo Grounds Field.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Maxwell Gitlin struck out the first batter of the game and then after allowing a single, forced Clarks Summit into a 5-4-3 double play.
- Graduate student Chris Radovic gave Clark an early 1-0 lead with a homer to right field and the Cougars led 1-0 after one inning.
- Gitlin then struck out five of next six batters in the game and retired Clarks Summit in order as Clark still led 1-0 before the Cougars offense drove in four runs in the bottom of the third led by an RBI single up the middle from sophomore Anthony LoCasto, a two RBI double Radovic, and sophomore Billy Sullivan drove in a run as Clark took a 5-0 lead after three innings of play.
- First-year Carter Doran singled up the middle in the bottom of the fourth to score junior Connor Rulnick to push the lead to 6-0.
- Gitlin retired the side again in the top of the fifth and first-year Ryan Bonja tripled to right center to score Radovic and Bonja came around to score on a sacrifice fly as Clark led 8-0 after five innings.
- Doran drove in a run in the bottom of the sixth that scored first-year Matthew Kalinak as Clark pushed the advantage to 9-0.
- The Cougars scored their final six runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning starting with a Kalinak hit by pitch, a three RBI triple to right field from LoCasto, a Doran RBI single up the middle, and an RBI from junior Randall Safron as Clark came away with a 15-3 win over Clarks Summit.
