Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (13-11, 3-7 NEWMAC) led through six innings against Babson (19-8, 9-1 NEWMAC), but fell 5-3 on Tuesday afternoon from Govoni Field.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Maxwell Gitlin took the mound for Clark and only allowed one run in the bottom of the first before sophomore Billy Sullivan doubled and advanced to third, but was left on base in the top of the second.
- The Cougars tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly from junior Ryan Caulfield that scored sophomore Anthony LoCasto.
- Gitlin pitched a scoreless third and fourth inning before first-year CJ Johnson gave Clark a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth with a double down the left field line that scored LoCasto.
- The Cougars added another run to their lead in the top of the sixth when junior Anthony Keefe drove in sophomore Samuel Farrell with an RBI single through the right side.
- Babson tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh and Sullivan reached second in the top of the eighth when he stole second, but was left on base.
- The Beavers added two runs in the bottom of the eighth and the Cougars were retired in order in the top of the ninth as they fell 5-3.
