Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team's (14-12, 3-8 NEWMAC) traveled to Springfield (15-16, 7-4 NEWMAC) for the first of a three game series and fell 10-9 on Friday afternoon from Archie Allen Field.
How it Happened
- Junior Max Moss started the game for Clark and retired the side in the bottom of the first and sophomore Billy Sullivan stole a pair of bases in the top of the second, but was left on base in a scoreless game.
- Moss tossed another scoreless inning in the second and sophomore Samuel Farrell belted an RBI double to center field that scored junior Ryan Caulfield as Clark took a 1-0 lead.
- Springfield plated a combined six runs in the third and fourth inning and Clark had a pair of runners reach base, but were left on base to end the top half of the fifth.
- After the Pride held a 10-1 lead, the Cougars offense erupted sparked by a run in the seventh off an RBI from graduate student Chris Radovic and a six run eighth inning.
- In the eighth, first-year Carter Doran was hit by a pitch, which drove in graduate student Trevor Ham, Caulfield drove in a run with an RBI single, Radovic belted a double down the left field line that brought home two runs, junior Connor Rulnick and junior Anthony Keefe also drove in runs as Clark trailed 10-8.
- Junior Ethan Belt brought Clark to within one at 10-9 in the top of the ninth with a homer to left field with two outs, but Springfield came away with a 10-9 victory.

- Caulfield went 4-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.
- Keefe and Belt each recorded two hits in the game with Belt scoring three runs.
