Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (2-7, 0-4 NEWMAC) played a back-and-forth contest with Wellesley (3-7, 1-3 NEWMAC), but fell 13-11 on Friday night from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- Clark took an early 2-0 advantage on goals from junior Elizabeth Liakos and sophomore Angela Borelli, with first-year Erin Lucas recording an assist on Liakos' goal.
- Liakos scored her second goal of the game with 7:26 to go in the first quarter off a pass from junior Kiley Simmons to push the lead to 3-1.
- Junior Maddie Conners recorded two more saves over the rest of the quarter as the game was tied 3-3 after one quarter of play.
- First-year Aubrey Conners opened the second quarter with two goals as Clark led by one and Simmons later scored a free position goal with 1:31 to go in the quarter as the Cougars tailed 7-6 at the break.
- Sophomore Claudia Oakleaf netted a goal with 5:12 remaining in the third quarter and first-year Meghan Fogarty tied the game at 8-8 with a free position goal.
- After two Wellesley goals, Borelli scored a pair of goals, including a free position goal with 10:38 left in the game to tie the game at 10-10.
- Conners scored another goal with 5:51 to go in what was now a 12-11 game and after Wellesley added a goal, Liakos and Fogarty had shots on saved.
