Box Score SALEM, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (2-1) traveled to Salem State (0-4) on Saturday afternoon and came away with a convincing 8-0 victory over the Vikings from Alumni Field.
Six different Cougars scored in the match and the eight goals scored were the most since 2019 when they scored nine goals against Framingham State.
How it Happened
- The Cougars looked to find a lead early in the contest as senior Emma Tziachris fired two shots on goal and junior Emily Rooney also put a shot on target within the first 10 minutes of action.
- Sophomore Cassandra Trevino put two shots on goal within a minute, with the second one nearly giving the Cougars the lead, but the Vikings came away with a defensive save.
- Clark's offense continued to knock on the door in the first half as Rooney and Tziachris each fired two shots on goal that were stopped before Tziachris gave Clark a 1-0 advantage on a shot off a pass from graduate student Jamie Joseph in the 42nd minute.
- The Cougars extended their lead to 2-0 in the 45th minute when Tziachris this time found Joseph, who was able to put the ball in the back of the net and extend the Clark lead before the half.
- Joseph in the 52nd minute added to the lead with another goal as the Cougars held a 3-0 advantage.
- Sophomore Andrea Mortimer found first-year Cassidy Hubbard in the 58th minute and Hubbard found the back on the net as Clark extended the lead to 4-0.
- First-year Evelyn Selser then added to the Cougars lead to make it 5-0 with a goal off a pass from sophomore Briana Girald in the 64th minute.
- First-year Emma Shaughnessy netted a goal in the 69th minute and then dished out a pair of assists to fellow first-year Gabriella Herivaux in the 70th and 73rd minutes as Clark came away with an 8-0 win.
