Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (2-2) welcomed Brandeis (3-2) to Granger Field on Wednesday night and battled with the Judges for 90 minutes, but were edged 2-1.
How it Happened
- The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead when senior Emma Tziachris fired a shot on goal that was saved, but junior Emily Rooney was there to follow the shot up with a shot of her own that beat the keeper as Clark took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.
- Both defenses and midfields controlled play for the next 18 minutes of play before the Judges earned a corner and Rachel Walter serviced in a ball that found the foot of Morgan Clark and she put the ball in the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1 in the 28th minute.
- Sophomore Anabella White recorded a save in the 41st minute before the Judges extended their lead to 2-1 when Madison Sansone serviced a ball into a diving Juliette Carreiro and Carreiro found the back of the net.
- White opened the second half with a pair of saves and senior Siobhan Lounsbury nearly tied the match in the 55th minute with a shot on target that was stopped.
- After both teams continued to trade possession, White came up with a pair of crucial saves in the 75th minute and a header off a corner in the 78th minute.
- The Cougars weren't able to get another shot off as Brandeis hung on to win 2-1.
