Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Clark women's soccer (2-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) opened conference play on Saturday against No. 22 MIT (6-1-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) and fell 2-0 to the Engineers from Roberts Field.
How it Happened
- Senior Siobhan Lounsbury nearly gave Clark an early 1-0 edge in the seventh minute, but her shot was saved by MIT's Lauren Castle to keep the score tied.
- After another shot on goal by Lounsbury that was stopped in the 19th minute, Ceci Munoz of MIT gave the Engineers a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute with a shot off a deflection.
- Sophomore Anabella White then came up with three saves over a six-minute stretch to keep the deficit at just 1-0 and made another save in the 33rd minute before the Engineers extended the lead to 2-0 on a shot from Lexi Spinetta in the 38th minute.
- Before the half, sophomore Isabella Ramirez and graduate student Jamie Joseph each fired shots on goal that were stopped as MIT held a 2-0 at the break.
- White recorded another save in the 54th minute and the Cougars last shot on target came in the 76th minute when Joseph fired a shot that was saved and graduate student Mia Advocate nearly got the ball and put it in the net, but Castle made a play on the ball.
