ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Clark University women's cross country team opened their 2022 season by competing in the 3k event at the 8th Annual Wheaton and Babson Season Opener event at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course on Friday night.
The Cougars placed fifth overall in their first meet under first-year head coach Emily Mauro.

"Today was a great day for the Cougars! The team handled the shorter distances well! It was a hot course with rolling hills, but that proved no match for the Cougars! Both teams executed their race strategies throughout the race."
How it Happened
- Sophomore Ruby Krasnow posted an impressive second-place finish in the 3k event with a time of 11:55.8, which was only two seconds behind the winner Laurel Kruger of Smith.
- Fellow sophomore Lily Carey finished 12th overall and second on the team with a mark of 12:30.8.
- Senior Kathryn Rivard-Lentz finished third on the team and 158th overall with a time of 28:47.
- First-year's Emmy Udry (13:54.8) and Abigail Gahagan (14:00.5) each made their collegiate debuts and set PR's placing 44th and 47th respectively.
- Fellow first-year Siobhan Connolly finished fifth on the team and 51st overall in her collegiate debut with a time of 14:07.7.
- Junior Megan Gohn (14:44.4) and sophomore Rosa Newshore (15:09.7) rounded out the top seven with their marks.
- Junior Sophia Oomen-Lochtefeld (15:53.0) and sophomore Wynne Dromey (16:07.3) also competed for the Cougars.
