DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (2-1) played its first road contest of the season on Wednesday night and fell 3-0 to UMass Dartmouth (1-1) from the Tripp Athletic Center.

How it Happened

• Junior Sofia Scherrer del Llano recorded Clark's first two points of the game with a pair of kills and two kills from fellow junior Victoria Pastor helped give the Cougars a 7-6 lead in the first set.
• Senior Claudia Rivera recorded three kills in the middle of the set to keep it a 14-12 game, but the Corsairs pulled away in the set to come away with a 25-17 despite two more kills from Pastor.
• Clark took an early 5-2 lead in the second set sparked by a service ace from graduate student Marimo Oka and a set of attacking errors from UMass Dartmouth helped push the lead to 10-6.
• The Corsairs responded with a run that gave them the lead back at 13-10 and the Cougars battled to keep it close led by graduate student Margarita Perez Maza who dished out three assists to make it an 18-14 game.
• UMass Dartmouth pulled away with the second set by a 25-19 margin and took a 9-2 lead early in the third set, but Rivera gave Clark a needed point to help end the run.
• Junior Sheyenne Williams and senior Cameron Gill each recorded kills down the stretch, but the Corsairs took the final set 25-13.

Inside the Stats

• Rivera led the team with nine kills and also added three digs.
• Pastor and Scherrer del Llano each added five kills.
• Perez Maza recorded 10 assists and sophomore Yvanna Torres registered eight helpers.
• Oka led the Cougars with 20 digs.

The Cougars will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Swarthmore for a match beginning at 7:00 p.m.
