Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (9-8, 0-2 NEWMAC) played their first NEWMAC road contest of the season at No. 11 Babson (14-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) on Wednesday night from the Staake Gymnasium and fell 70-42.
How it Happened
- The Beavers possessed an early 8-6 lead despite Clark buckets from juniors Jacqueline Faulise and Alaina Schatzabel and graduate student Cam Richey with 5:32 to go in the first quarter.
- Faulise hit a triple with 4:38 left in the first to keep it a two-point game and a free throw from junior Mariah Harris made it a 12-11 game in favor of the Beavers.
- The Beavers then scored six unanswered points, but Schatzabel answered with an and-one with 1:50 left in the frame to get back within four at 18-14.
- Babson ended the quarter on a 5-3 run, with Faulise hitting a three-pointer with 0:06 remaining in the first as the Beavers led 23-17 after one.
- The Beavers held the Cougars to just three points in the second quarter with two points coming from Schatzabel and a Faulise free throw as Babson held a 40-20 lead at the half.
- Faulise scored Clark's first four points of the third quarter and Schatzabel netted the Cougars next five points that was capped off by an and-one layup as Clark trailed 45-29 with 6:02 remaining in the third.
- Senior Sarah Zambrano hit a pair of jumpers as the team's traded baskets over the next four minutes and a free throw from Schatzabel made it a 50-34 ballgame.
- Schatzabel scored Clark's final point of the third and in the fourth, Zambrano led the way with four points and junior Mariah Harris netted two points as the Cougars fell 70-42.
