WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (9-9, 0-3 NEWMAC) welcomed No. 5 Smith (16-1, 3-0 NEWMAC) to the Kneller on Saturday afternoon and fell 64-36 to the Pioneers from the Kneller Gymnasium.

How it Happened

• Smith opened the game on a 12-4 run with the Clark buckets coming from junior Jacqueline Faulise and junior Alaina Schatzabel netted the Cougars final four points of the quarter as the Pioneers took a 21-8 lead into the second.
• The Cougars held Smith scoreless over the first 4:34 of the second quarter and got three points from Schatzabel as well as a senior Sarah Zambrano free throw as Clark trailed 21-12 with 5:27 to go in the second.
• The Pioneers then ended the half on a 7-4 run as the scarlet and white got buckets from both senior Jalin Waters and Schatzabel as Smith led 28-16 at the half, despite the Cougars holding Smith to just seven points in the second quarter.
• Waters and junior Mariah Harris scored Clark's first four points of the third quarter, with the Harris jumper making it a 39-20 game with 5:17 remaining in the third.
• Graduate student Cam Richey scored Clark's final points of the third as the Pioneers took a 50-22 lead into the fourth.
• The Cougars played Smith even in the fourth quarter as each team scored 14 points, with Clark's offense being led by five points from both Zambrano and Schatzabel as Smith came away with a 64-36 win.
