Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (10-8, 2-5 NEWMAC) traveled to Babson (11-7, 4-3 NEWMAC) on Wednesday night and dropped a road NEWMAC contest to the Beavers 87-64 from the Staake Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- Babson jumped out to an early 10-2 lead before the Cougars answered with two points apiece from sophomore Ian Calabrese and junior Bruce Saintilus to make it a 10-6 game with 12:48 to go in the first half.
- After the Beavers scored the next six points, junior Mikey O'Brien made a layup and sophomore Isaiah Taylor converted a layup on the Cougars next possession to get back within eight at 18-10 with 9:32 remaining in the half.
- First-year Reid Neumann hit a three off a feed from Taylor to get within seven, but Babson went on a 10-0 run to go up 17, with the run being stopped by a layup from sophomore Kekoa McArdle with 5:15 to go in the half of a now 30-15 game.
- McArdle and Neumann scored Clark's next four points and three free throws from Taylor before the break made it a 43-22 game in favor of the Beavers.
- Clark opened the second half on an 8-5 run with four points coming from Saintilus, two from Taylor, and two from McArdle as the Cougars trailed 48-30 with 17:59 to go.
- Taylor, McArdle, and Saintilus scored the scarlet and white's next six points and a Neumann triple with 14:28 to play made it a 17-point game.
- After the Beavers extended the lead to 24, Taylor hit a three off a feed from junior Jordan Richard and a three from Calabrese brought Clark back within 19.
- Taylor scored the Cougars next three points and another Calabrese triple with 9:29 remaining made it a 76-53 game.
- Saintlus, McArdle, graduate student Joel Arteage, Richard, and Calabrese each scored down the stretch for the Cougars as they played even over the final 9:29 of play as Clark fell 87-64.
