Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (11-8, 3-5 NEWMAC) traveled to MIT (3-14, 1-7 NEWMAC) and completed the season series with a convincing 84-64 victory over the Engineers on Saturday afternoon from the Rockwell Cage.
How it Happened
- Clark jumped out to an early 12-5 lead sparked by four points from sophomore Isaiah Taylor, three-pointers from junior Mikey O'Brien and first-year Reid Neumann, and sophomore Kekoa McArdle.
- Taylor hit a three to extend the lead to double-digits and a pair of McArdle free throws with 13:01 left, but the Cougars didn't score again until 9:34 when Neumann made a layup to go up 19-8.
- O'Brien pushed the lead to 12 with a made three-pointer and a made layup from Taylor extended the edge to 14 at 24-10 with 7:39 remaining in the first half.
- Graduate student Joel Arteaga then hit a triple and a layup from first-year Nate Edwards-Roseney gave Clark its biggest lead of the game at 30-14.
- After MIT got back within 12, Taylor hit a three and an O'Brien triple pushed the lead to 18 and a McArdle free throw before the break gave Clark a 39-22 lead.
- The Engineers scored the first five points of the second half before junior Jordan Richard ended the MIT run with a made three-pointer to take a 42-27 lead with 16:47 to play.
- McArdle then scored the game's next six points to put the Cougars up by 21 before triples from sophomore Ian Calabrese and Neumann put Clark up 56-30 with 12:53 remaining.
- After MIT got back within 15, O'Brien, McArdle, and Neumann responded with a 6-0 run of their own to put Clark up 65-44 with 6:10 left.
- Calabrese scored nine points down the stretch with three made triple, Richard added five, and senior Charlie Trey-Masters hit a three-pointer as Clark came away with a commanding 84-64 win.
