Field Hockey Falls to Nichols

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark field hockey team (4-8) closed out a three-game homestand with a fixture against Nichols (4-7) and came away with a 2-1 loss to the Bison on Tuesday night from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • After a Nichols goal, sophomore Jenna Beauchain took the first penalty corner of the game for the scarlet and white and fellow sophomore Elizabeth Cacciapaglia put a shot on target that was saved by Sophia Venable.
  • After the Cougar offense got a shot on target from sophomore Fionnuala Gormley, graduate student Abbe Cravinho tied the game in the ninth minute with a shot inside the circle after stealing the ball.
  • The scarlet and white earned four penalty corners within the first two minutes of the second quarter and in the 25th minute, sophomore Alison Kopec put a shot on goal that was stopped off a corner.
  • Before the half, senior Rachael Romain attempted a shot that was saved off a corner as the teams entered the half tied 1-1.
  • Sophomore Loren Root recorded a pair of saves early in the third quarter and Beauchain serviced in a penalty corner as both defenses dominated the period to keep the match tied.
  • After a save from Root in the 47th minute, the Bison followed the shot up with a goal and in the 54th minute, graduate student Greer McCarty put a shot on goal that was saved.
  • McCarty put one final attempt on target with four seconds remaining, but Venable had the shot stopped.

  • Clark recorded 18 shots, with seven going on goal.
  • The Cougars earned 15 penalty corners.
  • Cravinho's goal was her second of the season and sixth of her career.
