Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. – The Clark field hockey team (4-10, 1-6 NEWMAC) traveled to Newport for a match against Salve Regina (9-4, 4-3 NEWMAC) and fell 6-0 to the Seahawks on Tuesday night from Gaudet Field.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Alexandra Cacciapaglia registered the first save of the match less than a minute in and over the next five minutes, sophomore Alison Kopec and senior Greer McCarty each had shots stopped by Bryn Protheroe.
- Sophomore Jenna Beauchain sent a pair of corners in the 10th minute, with the second resulting in a shot from fellow sophomore Elizabeth Cacciapaglia that was saved and McCarty put a pair of shots on goal that were saved as the quarter ended 0-0.
- Graduate student Abbe Cravinho nearly gave Clark the lead in the 20th minute with a shot on target that was stopped again before Julia Decker gave the Seahawks a 1-0 lead less than 30 seconds later.
- Cravinho then hit the post in the 22nd minute and McCarty put a shot on goal in the 26th minute that was saved before Cravinho created another chance before the half that was stopped as Salve led 1-0.
- Cravinho put shot on goal that was saved right out of the half before Elizabeth Clark found the back of the cage to give the Seahawks a 2-0 lead.
- Kopec recorded a shot on target in the 37th minute that was saved before the Seahawks added three goals before the end of the quarter.
- First-year Kami LaBella nearly netted a goal, but had her shot saved defensively by Izzy Mastino and Kopec put another shot on goal that was stopped.
- First-year Rachel Reiter registered her first save in the 50th minute and added three more stops before the end of the game.
- Cravinho, Kopec, and senior Rachael Romain each put shots on goal in the fourth that were saved.
