Women's Soccer Edged by Wheaton

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's soccer team (8-5-4, 3-5-2 NEWMAC) played their final home match of the regular season when they welcomed Wheaton (5-11-1, 3-7-0 NEWMAC) to Granger and fell 1-0 to the Lyons on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
  • Graduate student Emma Tziachris recorded the first shot of the match in the third minute off a loose ball and sent the ball just over the crossbar.
  • Fellow graduate student Siobhan Lounsbury created a chance in the 21st minute off a through ball up the pitch and had her shot saved by Patricia Bandrup.
  • Lounsbury attempted Clark's final shot of the first half in the 42nd minute that was stopped as the Cougars held the Lyons without a shot on goal in the half in a 0-0 match.
  • Senior Anika Floeck nearly gave Clark the lead in the 51st minute with a shot from the right side of the pitch that was stopped by Bandrup.
  • Sophomore Jayme Brown sent a ball up the pitch that found graduate student Jamie Stern in the 63rd minute and Stern put a shot on goal that was stopped.
  • Wheaton pulled ahead to take a 1-0 edge off a penalty kick goal recorded by Ali Roche in the 67th minute.
  • Sophomore Cassidy Hubbard and junior Isabella Ramirez each created dangerous chances in the final 10 minutes of the match, but both shots were saved as Clark fell 1-0.
