Field Hockey Falls to Springfield in Season Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Clark field hockey team (5-12, 1-8 NEWMAC) traveled to Springfield (9-9, 4-5 NEWMAC) for the final game of the season and were edged 3-1 by the Pride on Saturday afternoon from Stagg Field.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Alexandra Cacciapaglia recorded a save in the 10th minute off a shot from Hailey Gaydos and before the end of the period, graduate student Abbe Cravinho and sophomore Jenna Beauchain each put shots on goal that were saved.
  • Cacciapaglia kept the game tied early in the second off a shot from Camryn Morano, but Springfield netted a pair of goals before the half to go up 2-0.
  • Sophomore Alison Kopec and Cravinho each got shots off corners serviced in by sophomore Jenna Beauchain, but Remy Niland recorded a pair of saves.
  • Sophomore Loren Root registered seven saves in the third quarter and in the fourth, Cravinho put another shot on goal that was stopped.
  • Senior Greer McCarty cut the deficit to one with a goal in the 52nd minute to make it a 2-1 contest.
  • Cravinho and McCarty each put shots on goal that were saved as the Cougars offense applied pressure, but the Pride added a goal in the 56th minute to win 3-1.
