NEWPORT, R.I. – Clark men's basketball (8-1, 2-0 NEWMAC) played their first NEWMAC road game of the 2023-24 campaign against Salve Regina (5-5, 0-2 NEWMAC) and came away with a 79-62 victory on Saturday afternoon from the Rodgers Recreation Center.
How it Happened
- Clark opened the game on an 8-1 run as sophomore Reid Neumann and junior Bruce Saintilus each scored three points and a made layup from McArdle propelled the Cougars to the early edge before the Seahawks made it a 10-6 game with 15:01 remaining in the first half.
- Junior Isaiah Taylor hit a pair of triples and a McArdle three-pointer helped extend Clark's lead to 19-8 and a triple from senior Mikey O'Brien pushed the edge to 22-10 with 12:10 to go.
- O'Brien hit another triple and a jumper from Saintilus extended the advantage to 27-19 before Salve Regina rattled off six unanswered points to make it a 27-25 contest.
- First-year Christopher Clarke, senior Jordan Richard, and Taylor combined to score the squad's next seven points as Clark led 34-31 and before the break Saintilus and first-year Quentin Pridgen netted the final five points as the Cougars held a 39-32 lead at the break.
- The Cougars opened the second half on a 9-2 run sparked by three points from Neumann and buckets from Taylor, McArdle, and Saintilus as Clark took a 48-34 advantage early in the second half.
- After a Salve basket, the Cougars responded with a 14-0 run as Pridgen and McArdle each scored four points and Richard and Saintilus added three to push the lead to 60-36 with 11:42 to go.
- The Seahawks cut the deficit to 15 with 5:38 remaining before Neumann and Richard each hit three-pointers to help push the lead back up to 19 at 73-54.
- Richard, McArdle, and Taylor combined to score the team's final six points as the scarlet and white came away with a 79-62 victory.

- McArdle led the team with a double-double after tallying 15 points and 13 rebounds.
