Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's basketball team (14-11, 6-8 NEWMAC) concluded its regular season with a road contest across town against WPI (21-3, 13-1 NEWMAC) and fell 86-56 to the Engineers on Saturday afternoon from the Harrington Auditorium.
Clark will enter the NEWMAC Tournament as the number five seed and will travel to No. 4 Wheaton for the Quarterfinal game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
How it Happened
- WPI scored the first 18 points of the contest before junior Bruce Saintilus ended the run with a pair of made free throws and a layup from sophomore Kekoa McArdle made it a 20-4 game with 11:53 left in the first half.
- Sophomore Isaiah Taylor scored five of Clark's next seven points, including three made free throws after being fouled shooting a three and a made layup from first-year Reid Neumann cut the deficit back to 16 at 31-15 with 5:14 remaining in the first half.
- Neumann and junior Jordan Richard combined to score the Cougars final five points of the half as WPI took a 45-20 lead into the half.
- Saintilus scored seven of Clark's first nine points in the second half, including a made jumper with 12:32 to go as the Engineers possessed a 68-29 edge.
- Neumann, Richard, and graduate student Joel Arteaga each hit three's on Clark's next three possessions to get within 24 at 72-38.
- Over the final 9:28 of the game, Arteaga added five more points, senior Charlie Trey-Masters scored four, and junior Mikey O'Brien hit a triple as the Cougars fell to the Engineers.
