Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (10-12, 1-6 NEWMAC) recorded their first conference win and first of the Reyes era with a convincing 100-29 victory over Mount Holyoke (2-20, 0-7 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon on senior day from the Kneller Gymnasium.
Prior to the game, seniors Julianne Liebow, Jalin Waters, and Sarah Zambrano were honored for their contributions to the Clark women's basketball program.
The 100 points in a game was the first since the 1996-97 season when they put up 107 on Springfield during the regular season.
How it Happened
- Clark held an early 10-5 lead thanks to four points apiece from junior Jacqueline Faulise and Zambrano as well as a layup from junior Alaina Schatzabel with 6:27 left in the first quarter.
- After Mount Holyoke got back within two, Schatzabel made another layup and a layup by Faulise off a feed from junior Mariah Harris made it a 14-10 game with 2:13 remaining in the first.
- Harris and Zambrano scored Clark's final four points of the first as the scarlet and white took an 18-13 lead into the second quarter.
- The Cougars scored 25 unanswered points over the first 8:47 of the second quarter and held the Lyons scoreless during that period, while getting 12 points from Schatzabel, six from Zambrano, three from Waters, and two apiece from Faulise and sophomore Megan Swedberg as Clark took a 43-18 lead into the half.
- In the third quarter, Clark held the Lyons to just two points and erupted for 28 points led by Waters, who hit three three-pointers in the third, as well as four points from Zambrano and Richey, three points from Liebow, and buckets from Schatzabel, Faulise, Harris, and Swedberg as the Cougars held a 71-20 lead after three.
- In the fourth, Clark outscored Mount Holyoke 29-9 sparked by 13 points from Liebow, who went 5-5 in the quarter, four points from first-year Ashley Leighton and Beebe, as well as buckets from Zambrano and Harris, and a free throw from first-year Sam Golden as the Cougars won 100-29.
