Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (2-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) opened NEWMAC play and closed out its three-game homestand with an 18-3 loss to Wheaton (4-2, 1-0 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- Senior Maddie Conners stopped the first shot of the game with 11:58 to go off a free position shot from Lara Finnie and made another save off a shot from Finnie with 9:11 remaining to keep it a scoreless contest.
- The Lyons took a 1-0 lead with 6:53 left in the first, but Conners kept it a one goal game with 3:22 to play with another save.
- Wheaton netted the final two goals of the quarter and scored a pair to open the second, before Conners made another save with 9:53 remaining in the second.
- After the Lyons netted four more goals, senior Kiley Simmons and sophomore Meghan Fogarty had shots saved before the half as Wheaton led 11-0.
- Conners recorded two more saves before Clark got on the board with 6:11 remaining in the third as senior Sophie Didier put the ball in the back of the net.
- Fellow senior Elizabeth Liakos scored with 10:45 to go in the game and Didier netted her second goal of the game with 5:52 remaining before Clark fell 18-3.
