Box Score AMHERST, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (9-7) traveled to Amherst (7-3-1) on Wednesday afternoon and fell 17-3 to the Mammoths from Memorial Field.
How it Happened
- Junior Samuel Farrell and senior Ryan Caulfield each drew walks in the top of the first and Caulfield stole a base before Amherst got out of the jam.
- Amherst plated six runs in the bottom of the first and in the top of the second, sophomore CJ Johnson singled through the left side to plate to score junior Billy Sullivan and make it a 6-1 contest.
- After another scoreless inning pitched by senior Max Moss in the third, Clark cut the deficit to two as first-year Brayden Hollinrake doubled down the right field line to score Caulfield.
- In the top of the fifth, Farrell stole third and scored on a throwing error to make it a 6-3 ballgame.
- Amherst added three runs in the bottom of the fifth and in the top of the sixth, sophomore Tyler Jones was hit by pitch and stole third before the Mammoths got out of the inning.
- Amherst plated eight more runs over the final four innings and came away with a win.
