Box Score 2 Worcester, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (14-15, 5-4 NEWMAC) hosted their senior day games against the Coast Guard Academy (11-13, 4-5 NEWMAC) and came away with a split as Clark took game one and fell in game two from Granger Field on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the game, graduate students Andrea Casabianca and Steven Mooney, and seniors John Bruzzese, RJ Safron, Ethan Belt, Nate Bonini, Michael Carterud, Ryan Caulfield, Casey Gorczyca, Anthony Keefe, Jose Mencia, Max Moss, Connor Rulnick, and Benjamin Spencer were honored for their contributions to Clark baseball.
Game One: Clark 12, Coast Guard 6

After Coast Guard took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth, the Cougars responded with a homer to left field from Keefe to score Casabianca to tie the game at 2-2.

With the Bears taking a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh the Cougars offense exploded with eight runs.

Caulfield singled to left field, plating sophomore Tyler Jones for the first run in the bottom of the eighth.

Sophomore Carter Doran singled to left field, scoring Sullivan, Rulnick singled up the middle scoring junior Samuel Farrell and Caulfield.

Then Casabianca singled through the left side, bringing home Doran, first-year Brayden Hollinrake singled through the right side to plate Rulnick.

Jones then singled through the left side, scoring both Keefe and first year Jake Faulkenham both scored to extend the lead to 10-6.

Caulfield stole third and came around to score and Farrell also scored off an error to push the edge to 12-6.

Moss closed out the game in the eighth and the ninth, allowing no earned runs as Clark came away with a 12-6 win.
Game Two: Coast Guard 3, Clark 2

Junior Maxwell Gitlin opened the game with four shutout innings in which he allowed no hits and in the bottom of the fifth, Casabianca drove in Rulnick to make it a 1-0 game.

The Bears scored two runs in the top of the sixth and another run in the top of the eighth bringing Coast Guard to a 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, Rulnick doubled to center field, advancing Farrell to third and Caulfield scored to make it a 3-2 game, but the Bears got out of the jam to win 3-2.
What's Next
The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon with a home conference game against Babson beginning at 3:30 p.m.
