Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (14-16, 5-5 NEWMAC) welcomed Babson (18-10, 7-3 NEWMAC) to Granger for an early week matchup against the Beavers and battled for 12 innings, but were edged 7-6 on Tuesday afternoon.
How it Happened
- Junior Andres Hulfachor took the bump for Clark and after allowing runners on first and second in the first, the junior struck out the final batter for the third out.
- Senior Ryan Caulfield singled to center field in the first, but was unable to score as the Beavers recorded the final three outs of the inning.
- Hulfachor tossed two more scoreless innings in the second and third before graduate student Steven Mooney walked and Caulfield singled to get runners on first and second.
- Sophomore Carter Doran then belted a three-run homer to left center in the bottom of the third that scored Mooney and Caulfield to give Clark a 3-0 edge.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Mooney drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt that scored sophomore Tyler Jones to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead.
- The Beavers plated a run in the top of the fifth and added four in the top of the sixth and in the bottom of the sixth, junior Billy Sullivan singled up the middle, but was left on base.
- Senior Nate Bonini tossed a scoreless top of the seventh and senior Michael Carterud pitched a scoreless eighth before senior Anthony Keefe singled to right field, scoring Jones to tie the game at 5-5.
- First-year Brayden Hollinrake hit a sacrifice fly to right field, that scored Keefe, giving Clark a 6-5 lead going into the ninth.
- The Beavers were able to tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the ninth, and in the bottom of the ninth, Doran drew a walk, but was unable to come around to score.
- Senior Max Moss tossed a scoreless 10th and 11th before the Beavers were able to take the lead in the top of the 12th off a homer and in the bottom of the 12th, Jones singled to center, but Babson got out of the jam to come away with a 7-6 win.
Inside the Stats
- Doran belted a three-run homer and drew a pair of walks.
- Caulfield went 4-6 with a double and a run scored.
- Jones was 2-4 with a pair of runs scored and walks, as well as a stolen base.
- Bonini tossed a scoreless 1.2 innings, Carterud recorded a scoreless eighth, and Moss registered three innings, without allowing an earned run.

Clark will play the first of a three-game weekend series on Friday with a home game against Springfield beginning at 3:30 p.m.
