Box Score 2 WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (11-7, 2-0 NEWMAC) with a pair of thrilling walk-off victories over Emerson (11-9, 0-2 NEWMAC) on Sunday afternoon from Granger Field.
The Cougars won game one 6-5 and earned a 2-1 victory in game two.
Game One: Clark 6, Emerson 5
- Senior Benjamin Spencer took the bump for Clark in game one and pitched a scoreless top of the first before junior Samuel Farrell walked and got to third before the Lions got out of the jam.
- Spencer tossed another scoreless inning in the top of the second before Emerson plated a pair of runs in the top of the third.
- Senior Ryan Caulfield singled to center in the bottom of the fourth and in the top of the fifth, senior Max Moss came in to pitch and set the Lions down in order.
- Sophomores CJ Johnson and Tyler Jones each walked in the bottom of the fifth, but Emerson got out of the jam.
- After scoreless top of the sixth and the seventh, senior Connor Rulnick belted a homer to left center to make it a 2-1 game.
- The Lions added three runs in the top of the eighth before Clark responded with two more runs of their own as Jones homered to left center and first-year Brayden Hollinrake drove in senior Anthony Keefe to make it a 5-3 game.
- Senior Nate Bonini tossed a scoreless ninth and in the bottom of the ninth, junior Anthony LoCasto singled to left before sophomore Sean Borden came in to pinch run and Farrell drew a walk to make it first and second with one out.
- Farrell stole second base and Borden then stole home to make it a 5-4 game and after a Caulfield walk, Hollinrake belted a double to right center that drove in Farrell and Caulfield as Clark won 6-5.
- Hollinrake drove in three runs in the contest.
- Rulnick went 2-4 with a homer and Jones also belted a homer.
- Spencer and Moss each tossed four innings.
Game Two: Clark 2, Emerson 1
- Junior Maxwell Gitlin took the ball in game two for Clark and tossed a scoreless first, second, and third inning before Jones singled to center and stole second, but the Lions got the final out of the inning to keep it a tie game.
- Gitlin retired the side in order in both the top of the fourth and fifth innings and in the bottom of the fifth, Johnson singled to left, but again Emerson got out of the inning as the game remained scoreless in the pitcher's duel.
- Clark took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth when Caulfield hit a sacrifice fly to center field that plated Jones.
- After Gitlin again retired the side in order in the top of the seventh, the Lions were able to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the eighth with a sacrifice fly.
- Senior Michael Carterud came into the game in the top of the ninth and tossed a scoreless inning before the Cougars walked off their second straight contest as Johnson walked with the bases loaded to plate Caulfield and win 2-1.
- Gitlin tossed 8.0 innings, struck out four batters, and only allowed one run.
- Caulfield went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Jones was 3-3 with a pair of stolen bases and a run scored.

The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday when they welcome Wheaton to Granger for a conference contest beginning at 3:30 p.m.
