Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (16-17, 7-6 NEWMAC) closed out the weekend in-division series against Springfield (11-17-1, 5-8 NEWMAC) and came away with a pair of victories against the Pride from Archie Allen Field on Saturday afternoon.
Game One: Clark 8, Springfield 4
- After a scoreless first inning, Clark took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second with an RBI single up the middle from senior Ryan Caulfield that plated graduate student Steven Mooney.
- Junior Heath Cockburn tossed a scoreless second inning before the Cougars plated four runs in the top of the third when sophomore Tyler Jones tripled to left field, scoring sophomore Carter Doran, senior Anthony Keefe singled to left field, scoring Jones, and junior Billy Sullivan belted a bases clearing double to right field as Clark took a 5-0 lead.
- The Pride added two runs in the bottom of the third and after a scoreless fourth, the Cougars added two more runs with RBI's from Sullivan and Caulfield to make it a 7-2 game.
- Jones pushed the lead to 8-2 in the top of the sixth with an RBI single that plated Doran as Clark came away with an 8-4 win in game one.
Game Two: Clark 11, Springfield 3
- Clark took an early 2-0 lead in game two in the top of the first as Doran hit a ball that scored Caulfield and Jones singled to right field to plate Doran.
- After the Pride scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, Clark extended the lead to 3-2 in the top of the second as Caulfield singled up the middle to plate graduate student Andrea Casabianca.
- Springfield tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second before the Cougars added two more runs as first-year Brayden Hollinrake and Casabianca each drove in runs to make it a 5-3 contest.
- Junior Maxwell Gitlin tossed a scoreless third and fourth and in the top of the fourth, Sullivan came around to score on a ball hit by Caulfield to make it 6-3.
- In the top of the fifth, Casabianca hit a sacrifice fly that scored Jones and in the top of the sixth, Doran belted a triple to left center scoring junior Samuel Farrell in an 8-3 game.
- Jones, senior Anthony Keefe, and Casabianca each scored over the rest of the game as the Cougars came away with an 11-3 victory,

Clark will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon with a road NEWMAC contest against Babson beginning at 3:30 p.m.
