Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (16-18, 7-7 NEWMAC) traveled to Babson (21-13, 10-4 NEWMAC) to close out their season series with the Beavers and fell 6-5 on Tuesday afternoon from Govoni Field.
How it Happened
- Clark jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first as sophomore Tyler Jones singled to right center scoring sophomore Carter Doran and senior Ryan Caulfield.
- Senior Nate Bonini tossed a scoreless bottom of the first before the Cougars added two more runs in the top of the second as graduate student Steven Mooney scored on a ball hit by first-year Dom Mariani and junior Billy Sullivan came around to score on a wild pitch to make it 4-0.
- Bonini tossed another scoreless second inning and first-year Brayden Hollinrake singled in the top of the third and advanced to third before the Beavers got out of the jam.
- Babson scored two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 4-2 and after a scoreless fourth, Jones doubled to left field, scoring Doran to make it a 5-2 contest in the top of the fifth.
- The Beavers cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a run off senior Michael Carterud and Carterud pitched a scoreless sixth as Clark led 5-3.
- Mariani belted a double to left field in the top of the seventh and reached third before Babson got out of the inning.
- Junior Andres Hulfachor came in and retired the side in order in the seventh before the Beavers were able to plate three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 6-5 edge.
- Caulfield and Mariani each reached base in the top of the ninth, but were left on base as Person struck out the final batter of the game to win 6-5.

- Jones was 2-3 with a double and three RBI's.
- Caulfield went 3-5 with a run scored.
- Hollinrake added a pair of hits.
- Bonini pitched 2.1 innings and only allowed two runs.
- Carterud tossed 3.2 innings, struck out three batters, and only allowed one run.

The Cougars will return to action on Friday afternoon with a home contest against WPI beginning at 3:30 p.m.
