Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (11-9) closed out their homestand with a contest against Mitchell (18-4) and battled back to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth, but fell 4-3 on Thursday afternoon from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- Senior Casey Gorczyca took the bump for the Cougars and retired the Mariners in order in the top of the first and got out of a jam in the second to keep the game tied at 0-0.
- Senior Ethan Belt recorded Clark's first hit of the game in the bottom of the third with a single to center field, but was caught stealing to end the third inning.
- Gorczyca forced a double play in the top of the fourth and a pop out to end the top half of the inning and in the bottom of the fourth, senior Ryan Caulfield singled, but was unable to score in a scoreless game.
- After Mitchell plated two runs in the top of the fifth, sophomore Carter Doran singled to right field before the Mariners got out of the inning with a 2-0 lead.
- Senior Michael Carterud entered the game in the top of the sixth and tossed a scoreless inning and after Mitchell scored in the top of the seventh, junior Billy Sullivan singled to center field, but was unable to score.
- Senior Jose Mencia entered the game in the top of the eighth and after the Mariners scored a run, Clark loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning as Doran, first-year Dom Mariani, and first-year Michael Soares each singled in the inning, but the next three Cougars were set down in order.
- After a scoreless ninth from Mencia, Sullivan and Caulfield each got on base before Doran belted a three-run homer to left field to make it a 4-3 game, but the Mariners recorded the final two outs of the night.

- Doran went 3-4 with a homer, three RBI's, and a run scored.
- Sullivan was 2-4 with a run scored.
- Gorczyca tossed 5,0 innings pitched and only allowed two runs.
